Courtney Baleato

Courtney is a compassionate, positive and approachable Accredited Practising Dietitian. Her passion for dietetics stems from her love of food and the role that it can play in a happy, healthy mind and body. She is committed to a client centred approach that values the client as the expert of their own body and experience. Courtney works with clients to understand their needs and develop realistic, achievable goals.

Courtney supports both adult and paediatric clients at Ishana Wellbeing Clinic.

Nutrition plays such an important role in a child's growth and development. Courtney supports children who have limited diets, allergies, gastrointestinal issues, growth concerns or other feeding challenges. Courtney is also able to support children with more complex needs and disabilities. Courtney works collaboratively with parents and their medical/ therapy team to support their child's unique nutrition needs. She is aware that feeding and nutrition play a pivotal role in a family's daily routines and provides realistic, practical strategies that create meaningful change for child and their family.

Living with a severe food allergy herself, Courtney has an interest in working with clients with allergies and allergic diseases. Courtney understands the challenges that this can pose for clients and their families and provides supportive and reliable education, strategies and advice designed for the individual.

Courtney also enjoys supporting clients with Medical Nutrition Therapy for chronic disease management. This includes Diabetes, High Cholesterol/ Blood Pressure, Chronic Kidney Disease, Gastrointestinal issues amongst other conditions. She has been involved in research projects at the University of Newcastle investigating the positive role that plant based foods can play in managing and treating chronic diseases, including diabetes. She is particularly interested in women’s health, and the growing body of research showing links between a healthy gut and overall health and wellbeing- for the mind and body.

Courtney graduated from the University of Newcastle and is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and a member of Dietitian’s Australia.
