Melissa graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2017 and have worked in a variety of clinics around Newcastle, the Central coast and Hunter region. Prior to completing her degree in Podiatry, she spent 7 years as a surgical and rehabilitation nurse and 8 years in aged care specialising in dementia.
Melissa has a keen interest in Podiatry that was developed when she was young, by playing a significant amount of competitive sport which caused many ankle and foot issues. As she left school and advanced through her nursing career Melissa had a lot of interaction with patients specifically those who have diabetes. Witnessing many leg ulcers and amputations of patients who did not have access to a podiatrist, this left a lasting impression on how she could improve someone’s quality of life and hopefully prevent this from occurring. Melissa felt drawn to assist in helping people whether it be general foot care, injury rehabilitation or assist in reducing pain in their foot or lower limb.
Melissa is currently a member of the Australian Podiatry Association and is always actively educating and improving practice and development. When not at clinic, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends along with travelling, and has been fortunate to visit America, Europe and New Caledonia.
