
Prof Aniruddh Deshpande works at Children’s Hospital Westmead Sydney. He is Head, Department of Paediatric Surgery. He is also a Senior Lecturer and a founding member of the Priority Research Centre, GrownupWell at the Faculty of Health and Medicine, University of Newcastle with a strong research track record (> 40 publications, < 5 research grants and three research students).
Ani is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Paediatric Surgery and has been awarded a PhD by the University of Sydney for his doctoral thesis on Bladder Dysfunction in Children.

With over 25 Years of experience in Paediatric Surgery and Urology, Ani contributed to the establishment of a comprehensive public paediatric urology and incontinence service at John Hunter Hospital. This is the only service of its kind in regional NSW and is capacity built to autonomously deliver tertiary urological care.
Prof Ani’s surgical expertise in Paediatric Urology includes general, endoscopic, functional and laparoscopic paediatric urology. He has a special interest in the management of bladder dysfunction and complex urinary incontinence in children. He completed a two year clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Urology at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and spent time at the Yale University, USA. He also specialises in Paediatric laparoscopic surgery.
